Grant County Genealogical Society

The society was established in 1974, its aims being to promote and encourage interest in genealogy and family history, to preserve our ancestors' and early settlers' records, and to help people with their family history research.

Green County Genealogical Society

The society has indexed obituaries taken from Monroe Times and Monroe Journal 1900-1939 and obituaries taken from Monroe Evening Times 1950-1959.  They have also extracted Births, Deaths, and Marriages from:

  • Albany Vindicator
  • Jeffersonian Democrat of Monroe 1856-1857
  • The Liberal Press: Golden Anniversary 1873
  • Monroe Sentinel 1851-1862
  • "Monroe Sun" Newspapers

Although the index is accesible, they do make a charge for a copy of the record.

A list of Townships, including their history, is available, along with a cemetery surname index.

Heart O' Wisconsin Genealogical Society
