The Office is approximately five minutes walk from Smethwick Rolfe Street railway station and fifteen minutes from Smethwick Galton Bridge railway station.

Buses 53, 80, 87 and 89 stop close to the Archive.

You are advised to book before visiting because it can become very busy and also if you wish to access original documents.

There is no public car park at Hanley Library, and the nearest pay-and-display car park is in John Street. Disabled badge holders can park for 3 hours without charge in on-street car parking bays and all day in off-street car parks.

For people unable to visit in person, Stoke City Archives offers a research service. 

Stoke on Trent Archives is not a member of the CARN (County Archive Research Network).

The Archive is located one mile from Walsall town centre.  The Office has an onsite car park.  

If travelling by train to Walsall, you must go to St Paul's Street Bus Station if continuing your journey by bus or Leicester Street Tax Rank if continuing your journey by taxi.

Buses 301 or 302 stop near to the Office.

You do not need an appointment to visit, but booking is advisable if a microfilm or microfiche reader is required.  You can book one two-hour session per day, but if you are travelling from outside a 25 mile radius of the centre it is possible to book two sessions.
