Saskatchewan Family History Societies

This section lists the different branches of Saskatchewan Genealogical Society.  It then gives details about each one and what resources and publications they offer.

Saskatchewan Genealogical Society

The aim of the association is to promote the study of genealogy and family history.

They have a Library where a number of archives are available, which include:

  • Genealogical Reference Books
  • Genealogies

Archives also incorporate:

Resources held also cover the rest of Canada and further afield, such as England and Wales.  A full list is available on their website.

Databases are also available, which include Burial and Obituary Indexes, Cummins Rural Directory, Resident Indexes and War Claims.

These are only available to members of the association.  

Databases accessible to the public include Biggar Railway Retirees, Changes of Name, Cemetery Indexes and RCMP Obituaries.  A cemetery index is also available.

Saskatchewan Genealogical Society - Biggar Branch

The association has a Resource Centre where a number of resources are available, which include:

  • 1882-1916 Regina Leader Newspaper Indexes
  • Census Indexes
  • Directories
  • Genealogical Reference Books

A list of The Independent Newspapers 1913-1950 held by Biggar Museum and Gallery is also available.  They also have a section of the site which is dedicated to Local History. 

Items falling under this heading include Biggar History, Biggar's First Citizens, Census Returns and Pinwherry History. 

There is also a link to FindAGrave, which has details of tombstones in Ruthilda Cemetery.

A number of publications are available for sale, which include Births, Marriages and Deaths from The Independent Biggar 1913-1950, Obituary Indexes and the Biggar Cemetery Directory which includes a Plot Map.

Saskatchewan Genealogical Society - Moose Jaw Branch

Some Databases and Indexes are on the site, which include Cemetery Inscriptions from Moose Jaw Pioneer, Moose Jaw City, Rosedale, Remco Sunset and Pine Grove Cemeteries.  

A list of Cemeteries surrounding Moose Jaw, including Tombstone Inscriptions, is also accessible. 

In addition, the Moose Jaw Times Herald Obituary Index 2001-2009 is also available, along with Miscellaneous Births, Marriages and Deaths from Moose Jaw Times 1889-2000.
