Bismarck-Mandan Historical and Genealogical Society

The aims of the association are to promote and encourage the study of genealogy and history, to retrieve and preserve genealogical and historical records, to educate people in genealogical research and to make public records more readily available.

A number of publications are available for sale, which include Indexes of Marriages before 1 July 1925 for Burleigh and Morton Counties.  In addition, they sell:

  • 1885 Census Index of Dakota Territory, which includes Benson, Billings, Emmons, Kidder, Logan, McLean, Dickey, La Moure, Rolette, Stark, Morton and Burleigh Counties
  • 1898-1955 Rural Burleigh Co. School Census
  • Morton Co. Atlas including Plat Book - 1917
  • Bismarck School Census 1898-1920

Ransom County Historical Society

The association has an Archives where a number of resources are available, which include:

Red River Valley Genealogical Society

The association serves Eastern North Dakota and Western Minnesota.  They have a Library where a vast collection of resources is available.  These cover most counties and include:

  • Atlases
  • Cemetery Records
  • Church Registers
  • Directories
  • High School Annuals
  • Plat Books

Some Funeral Home Indexes are on the site, along with a link to Indexes of Cemetery Transcriptions.  The association has lifted obituaries published in the Fargo Forum since November 1975 and are able to supply copies of these records for a fee.  A number of publications are also available for sale, which include:

  • Funeral Home Records
  • Marriages

For a fee, they are also prepared to search in Census Returns if you send them the necessary information.
