County Societies

Jefferson County Genealogical Society

The association was established in September 1996. Its aim is to preserve the pioneer heritage of the county.

There is an on-line person index and Tables of Contents for the Pioneer Trail, their Quarterly Publication.  Back Issues of this publication are available for sale. A research service is offered by the society.

Madison County Genealogical Society

The society was established in June 1973, its aims being to help people researching their genealogy and to promote and encourage the study of family history.

Phelps Helps Holdrege Area Genealogical Club

Back Issues of their Newsletter from 1996 are on the site.  There are also Every Name Indexes of the Newsletters from 1992-1998.

Washington County Historical Association

The association was established in 1919, with $1000 that was left over from the 1919 Centennial Celebration.  It was incorporated in 1925, its purpose being to preserve the history of Washington County and surrounding area for future generations.

They have a museum where many archives are accessible, which include:
