County Societies

Manistee County Historical Museum

There is a large Card Index in the Museum, which is organised by Surname.  These surnames were taken from Newspaper Articles, Birth and Marriage Announcements, Obituaries, Books and Cemetery Reference Information. 

Many other resources are also available, which include City Directories, Phone Books, Old Plat Maps and a Local Newspaper Collection beginning in 1870.

Marquette County Genealogical Society

The association was organised in 1988, its aims being to preserve and organise sources, to promote and encourage interest in family history and to maintain genealogical resources.

A list of Marquette Co. Cemeteries and a list of Vital Records on LDS(Latter Day Saints) Microfilm is available on the site.

Mecosta County Genealogical Society

The Society offers Pioneer Certificates to anyone who can prove they are directly descended from the pioneers of Mecosta County prior to 31 December, 1899.
