This section lists associations from Hillsdale to Jackson giving details about each one and what resources and publications they offer.

County Societies

Hillsdale County Genealogical Society

A number of publications are available for sale, which incorporate:

  • Births 1866-1902
  • Census Indexes (1860, 1870, 1880, 1894)
  • Deaths 1867-2002
  • Marriages 1835-2000
  • Plat Map 1894
  • Plat Map 1909
  • Schools Graduates 1800-2002

They also have information regarding Newspaper Articles from Hillsdale Standard, Hillsdale Whig Standard and Hillsdale Leader. 

In addition, they have details about Pittsford Area Schools and Military Records.

They also have a Message Board hosted by Rootsweb.

Houghton-Keweenaw County Genealogical Society

A number of databases are available, which include Nissila and Makela Funeral Home Records, Injuries at Champion Mine, Widows Pensions and the Settlers Ball Book Index. 

They also have photographs from some Cemeteries in the Keweenaw. 

They are in the process of compiling an index to Births, Marriages, Deaths and Special Announcements published in the Daily Mining Gazette 1913-1951.  A list of surnames currently being researched by Members is also on the site.

Ionia County Genealogical Society

The association was established in 1997.  They are currently in the process of Indexing and Transcribing information taken from Ionia Co. Cemeteries. 

A number of publications are available for sale, which include the 1881 History of Ionia and Montcalm Counties, Cemetery Records and Ionia Co. Genealogy.

Isabella County Genealogical Society

The association was established in 1995.  They have a list of Local Libraries, Cemeteries and Funeral Parlours on the site, which will be of use if you are conducting research in the area.

They also sell books on the site, which include Isabella Co. History, The Campbell Building and Isabella Co.: Families and History.

They have also received a 5-generation Genealogy of the Lake Family compiled by Helen Brieske of Salida, Colorado.  Please contact the association if you would like a PDF copy of her research. 

A list of surnames currently being researched by Members is also on the site.

Jackson County Genealogical Society

The association has a Library located at 211 W. Ganson Street, Suite 170, Jackson, MI 49201 where a number of resources are available. 

They also have a map of Townships in the area. Indexes of Jackson Co. Deaths 1886-1899 and 1900-1901 are also accessible.
