County and other Societies

St. Tammany Parish Genealogical Society

They are currently in the process of transcribing documents to add to the website, which incorporate:

They also give details of the 13 Libraries in the area, which include Abita Springs, Bush, Covington, Folsom and Mandeville.


Terrebonne Genealogical Society

The association publishes a newsletter and it is possible to download back issues of this publication on the site from 1997-2012. 

A number of resources are available on the site, which incorporate:

Vicksburg Genealogical Society

The association was established in 1982.  Their journal, Mississippi River Routes, is published quarterly and a Table Contents relating to the current issue is available on the site.  Back Issues of the publication are also available for sale, and a Table of Contents for each issue from 1993 is available on the site. 

A number of other publications are available for sale, which include the 1820 Federal Census for Warren County, 1830 Federal Census for Warren County, Claiborne County 1820 Federal Census and Papers of Decedents. 

In addition, they also sell the 1820 and 1830 Federal Censuses, Will Index, Tavern Records for Jefferson County.  They also list a number of websites you may find useful when conducting research in Mississippi and Louisiana.


Winn Parish Genealogical and Historical Association

The association was established in 1996.  They have a Library where an extensive number of books are accessible.  These include books relating to some US States, Overseas and Immigration Records.  They also have books relating to the U. S. Military, Native Americans, Ship Passenger Lists and Surnames. 

They also have a Mailing List for Members that is hosted by Rootsweb and a Legacies and Legends index which is an index to articles in Legacies and Legends, their journal.  Articles include:
