Statewide and Regional Societies

Kentucky Genealogical Society

The society was organised in 1973. Their aim is to encourage and promote the study of genealogy.

They have donated their extensive collection of resources to Kentucky Family History Centre.

Numerous on-line indexes are accessible on their site, which include Cemetery Records, Marriages, Newspaper Clippings and Obituaries relating to various Counties in Kentucky. Back issues of their newsletter, Bluegrass Roots, are sold by the society.

A list of surnames currently being researched by members is available on the site, along with a Message Board.  A mailing list is also available.

The Society is unable to provide research services to the public, but does provide a list of family history researchers, who, for a fee, are willing to undertake research on your behalf.

A list of links to other sites you may find useful are also on their site.
