Florida State Genealogical Society

The organisation was founded in 1977.  Their aims are to promote and encourage family history research and to publish materials.  Conferences attended by nationally well-known speakers are held by the society.

Details about Florida Pioneers are on their site, which can be searched by Pioneer or Descendant. 

They society sells some publications, which include:

  • A Journal of Civil War Pensioner Examinations 1896-1903 along with Pioneers and their Descendants
  • The Legislative Council of the Territory of Florida Names and Abstracts 1822-1845

You can download copies of their newsletter from 2003 to 2012 from their site.  A list of surnames currently being researched by members is also available.

Alachua County Genealogical Society

The association was established in 1973.

They provide a link to the Alachua Co. Virtual Cemetery Project which has details of cemeteries in the area.  Information regarding their publications available for sale is accessible, which include Cemetery Records, 1860 Alachua Co. Census and Masons 1866-1870.

Broward County Genealogical Society

The association was founded in 1967.  Their collections are accessible on the second floor of the Main Library of Nova South-eastern University, 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Blvd, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33314. 

It is also possible to view Cemetery Records from Dania Memorial Park(Woodlawn Cemetery) and West Lawn Cemetery.

Englewood Genealogical Society

The association was established in 2001.  Their site gives details of resources accessible in their Library.  They also have a list of surnames currently being researched by members on the site along with information regarding Special Interest Groups.

Lee County Genealogical Society

The organisation was established in 1975.  Many resources relating to Genealogy are accessible at the Fort Myers-Lee County Public Library.  An index of death notices and obituaries published in Fort Myers News-Press is accessible. 

There is also a list of surnames currently being researched by members along with details of Special Interest Groups, some of which to England and Wales.
