Nottinghamshire Family History Society was originally established as the Genealogical Society of the East Midlands. 

Its aim is to encourage and unite all those interested in genealogical research, specifically for the county of Nottinghamshire.

Genealogical records are indexed and preserved by the association, and also copied and published.  These include surname indexes to Nottinghamshire census returns and marriages 1813-1837.
