Alberta Family History Societies (L-Z)

This section lists the state-wide associations from Lethbridge and District to Wetaskiwin giving details about each one and what resources and publications they offer.

Lethbridge and District Genealogical Society

The society is a non-profit community association whose aims are to promote genealogy and to offer encouragement and archives to anyone showing an interest in family history research.  They preserve, transcribe and store genealogically related data.

The association is run by volunteers who work hard to provide this information.

Many archives are available at their Library:

Obituaries from the Lethbridge Herald 1905-1906, 1929, 1960-1969 and 1970-1984 are accessible through the site, along with Obituaries from the South-western Alberta 1885-1959.  A list of Cemeteries is also on the site, along with Burial Indexes.

Medicine Hat and District Genealogical Society

They have a Library where a number of archives are available, which include:

Red Deer Genealogical Society

The association was established in 1978.  They have a Library where a number of archives are available, which include:

  • Newsletters
  • Ontario Historical Atlas Collection

They also have a list of persons who lived in the Red Deer Area in 1913 who have descendants living there.
